Canon G1000 to G4000 series – Reset waste ink counter for FREE

This guide was originally suggested by an end-user who tried and tested it against their Canon Megatank G3200 and we’ve since found that it works with most current G1000 to G4000 series Megatank models.

1. Turn off Printer.

2. PUT PRINTER IN SERVICE MODE:

   1. Hold STOP then POWER
   2. Release STOP Button
   3. Press STOP 5 times
   4. Release POWER button
      (Wait for green stable green light)
      

3. PRINT PRINTER INFO BEFORE RESET:

   1. Press STOP 3 times
   2. Press POWER 1 time
      (wait – printer should print full page, second line D= should be greater than zero)
      

4. RESET INK COUNTER:

   1. Press STOP 5 times
   2. Press POWER 1 time
      (wait – Printer should print 1 Line)
      

5. PRINT PRINTER INFO AFTER RESET:

   1. Press STOP 3 times
   2. Press POWER 1 time
      (wait – printer should print full page, second line D= should be zero)
6. Press POWER 1 time

Compatible Printers:

• G1000 to G4000 series models

Please note: This process does not work for G5000 to G7000 series models. Those models do still require a WICReset app to reset the waste ink counter.
